2022 Co-Presidents

LEAH ALYSANDRATOS (she/her)

Hi everyone! My name is Leah, I am a third year JD student, VCA music alumnus, dog-crazy woman, and also one of your FAME LSA Co-Presidents for 2022! I cannot wait to bring FAME into 2022 with fun events and programs, and lots of joy, laughter and learning!

A little bit about me: I love the Great British Bake-Off, reading and talking about any kind of book, singing and music, and being around like-minded people, friends and family. I have a deep passion for the intersection between the creative and legal industries which has been appropriately met with all of the exciting things we do at FAME. I love to sing, vibe on my ukulele and piano, delve deep into intellectual property issues, dream about Prada shoes, and attempt to learn more about NFTs (emphasis on attempt).

Alongside Matt, my goal this year is to create an environment that is fun, inventive, educational and social! My whole law school life has been FAME orientated, so there is nothing I want more than to make your experience with it as amazing as mine has been! So if you ever see me around campus, please say hi! I promise that I am friendly, and I cannot wait to talk about anything and everything with you! :))

MATTHEW HEALY (he/him)

My name is Matt and I am a third year JD Student who is really passionate about diving deep into the Arts. I am so thrilled to be Co-President alongside Leah with the goal to continue fostering the inclusive and exciting environment FAME aims to provide for all students.

I have been an artsy kid since forever, diving into music, acting, singing, dancing and all of the in-betweens. I surrounded myself with the safe space of music, dance and theatre since I was very young, performing and directing a wide variety of projects. This creative outlet has been a source of energy for me throughout my study.

For me, FAME represents an important transition in appreciation for the arts. Whilst supporting the arts through creative outlets, it also recognises it as the important cultural and professional space that it is. Whilst so many JD students have a passion for the arts, we at FAME are providing a space for that passion to grow. I am someone who is fascinated by particular areas of law which are a direct result of me prioritising my creative outlet. Whether that is media, intellectual property, data security or the ongoing issue of job security in the arts employment area, these passions derive from my time at FAME.

2022 Treasurer & Careers and Sponsorship Director

XIAO XIAO KINGHAM (she/her)

Hey! My name’s Xiao-Xiao and I am a lot of things but most relevantly, I am FAME’s 2022 Treasurer. What else? I’m a second year JD student who has recently graduated from the Conservatorium of Music and I’m also a bookseller who is wholly invested in all things books, whether it be reading, reviewing, throwing or ugly crying over them.

Full disclosure, as a student from a creative arts background I entered the JD fully expecting to feel like a fish out of water. I’ve since met so many amazing creatives throughout the degree who, like me, are fascinated with the interaction between law and the arts sector. I’m so glad to help FAME provide a platform for JD students to hone into their creativity and explore all the amazing legal careers that the entertainment industries have to offer!

When not stressing about the JD, you’ll possibly find me embroidering, gaming, baking or curling up with a good book. I’m always looking for new friends so please say hi if you spot me around the law school!

SARAH ABOU-EID (she/her)

Hi! My name is Sarah, I’m a second year JD student. I will be your Careers and Sponsorship Director in 2022!

A little bit about me - I am a lover of classic literature and trash reality tv. Am I behind on my lectures? Always. Am I behind on Keeping Up With the Kardashians? Never. I’m also a creative writer - I started off as an author of Justin Bieber fan fiction, but now I primarily write mystery, horror, romance and non-fiction prose poetry. I would plug the insta, but I’ll keep this humble.

Joining the FAME team is super exciting - it is my first position at a MLS club! This club is so special. It’s a little nook of MLS that caters entirely for those of us who are creatively wired. Hopefully in my role I can illuminate a way for your creative passions to intersect with your legal career.

2022 Engagement Directors

CAITI GALWEY (she/they)

Hello! I’m Caiti, your certified movie nerd and resident gaming enthusiast. I worked in design and marketing in Hong Kong, and then produced, photographed and directed my way through film school in Sydney. Now I’m a third-year JD student, focussing on studies relating to intellectual property and copyright as well as queer and feminist interdisciplinary legal theory.

For me, FAME resolved my doubt that there wasn’t a career that combined the law and the creative industries (spoiler, there is, and it’s awesome). The opportunities I have experienced through FAME have transformed my vision for the future and have provided me with a way to stay creative amidst the challenging moments of this dang degree.

Hit me up for movie recommendations (alternatively, give me some) or if you need someone to game with!

CATHERINE CHINCARINI (she/her)

Hello! I’m Catherine and I’m one of your FAME Engagement Directors this year! I’m a third year JD student with a keen interest in intellectual property, especially copyright, trademarks, and entertainment law.

I come from a Bachelor of Arts at Melbourne, and a long involvement in music and theatre! FAME was invaluable in my first year of law for highlighting the range of opportunities for legal careers in the creative industries, something I hadn’t had much exposure to until getting involved in FAME’s events and panels.

I am so excited about the different careers, industries, professionals, and opportunities the society brings to students and I, along with Caiti, can’t wait to bring many of these events to you! In my spare time I love reading, musicals, forcing my friends to watch ‘80s romance movies, and trivia!

2022 Communications Director

ROBERT MCINTYRE (he/him)

Hiya! My name is Rob McIntyre and I am a second year JD student, previously with a Bachelor of Music (Honours) in Music Composition from the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. This 2022, I am your Communications Director!

My interests span across running (I know bear with me), brunching (that’s better), concert-going (ooo culture!), day-road tripping and more! I am a freelance classical-contemporary composer (roberttmcintyre.com if you’d like to have a stalk ;p) and I also play flute and piano.

I am ecstatic to be a FAME’s Communications Director as it is an awesome gateway to be connected (and literally be providing the platforms for connection) with incredible like-minded people, whilst also delving into multi-arts law in the JD. I hope to be a lawyer in the arts representing classical musicians and more, whilst also being a professional composer at the same time - somewhat of a quasi-hannah-motana if you like.

If you see me around the law school or wherever, please say hi! x

2022 Ambassadors

ELIZABETH SEYCHELL (she/her)

Hello! I’m Beth, and I’m one of your FAME Ambassadors for 2022! I’m a second year JD student with an interest in intellectual property and media law.

A little bit about me – before law school, I completed a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) majoring in English Literature. As you can probably guess, then, I love reading, reviewing and chatting about all things book-related, and I’m also very much interested in the world of media and publishing. In my free time, I also like to play music (violin!), watch films and play with my adorable three dogs!

In my first year, FAME was always the go-to club for fun events, insightful panels and lovely people, and helped me discover career pathways which combined the creative industries with law. As an Ambassador, I’m now super excited to help stage the many fun events FAME has in store for 2022, and to provide students with a space to embrace their creative passions and meet like-minded people. If you see my around uni, please say hi!

ELIZA CAREY (she/her)

Hey there! My name's Eliza. I am so excited to be welcomed as a first-year ambassador for 2022.

Some things about me… I have recently graduated with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in criminology and politics from yours truly, UniMelb. At school, I participated in singing and dancing comps which I loved. I have also had experience in the modelling industry. I am OBSESSED with film and TV. I will watch anything but I have to say a dark thriller always wins my heart. My favourite thing to do is see a blockbuster or classic at IMAX and then unpack it for hours with friends. A word of warning, though… I will undoubtedly spoil everything that comes out, so keep up with your shows! My favourite directors are, of course, Christopher Nolan and Ridley Scott.

FAME drew my attention straight away and I was compelled to get involved. I am passionate about the intersection between law and the arts. There’s a plethora of room for juicy discussion and debates, particularly regarding film regulations, defamation, media influence, and the public eye.

I am so excited to bring some events and ideas to life with the FAME team. It's going to be a fun year! If you see me around law school, please come say hi :)

ELLE HENRIKSEN (she/her)

Hi my name is Elle, and I’m a second year JD student here at MLS. I’m from California, but feel quite at home here in Melbourne with its wonderful culture and heaps of live music, cinemas, and arts. I got my BA from UC Berkeley, and have a bit of experience working in the music industry, which is why FAME caught my eye.

Sometimes I write reviews of concerts (I hear you Aussies call them gigs) so been loving the Evelyn and the Night Cat. If you have any recommendations I am always keen so please don’t hesitate to let me know about some good upcoming shows.

I’m thrilled to be here and always keen for a chat about films and what not. Let’s talk about the new Batman! Or if that’s not your thing, maybe we can talk about new French films like Titane. You can find me most mornings on floor 1 distracting others from studying. Please come say hello :-)

SAAD RAO (he/him)

Hi there! My name is Saad, a 2nd year JD student and a FAME ambassador. I recently graduated with a Bachelor of Biomedicine (Degree with Honours), majoring in immunology and microbiology. I always wanted to become an actor. It wasn’t because of a lack of trying because I did shoot a commercial, but it never made to air. With the looks of Tom Cruise and the skills of Leonardo DiCaprio, I like to believe I would have gotten more oscars than Meryl Streep. But that’s alright, law isn’t too bad.

FAME is at the intersection between law and the creative industry. It presents an awesome opportunity to connect with like-minded people and explore the legal careers that the entertainment industry has to offer. If you see me around campus, be sure to say hi!

TANVI DHARIWAL (she/her)

Hello! I’m Tanvi, a first year JD student. I did a Bachelor of Arts (Comprehensive Honours) majoring in Art History and Italian Language & Literature and minoring in Archaeology, Classics, European Studies and Studio Art at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I am particularly interested in the intersection of the law and the arts, especially with regards to issues of Cultural Heritage, Provenance, and Ownership in the museum context.

In the past year, I have spent time working at art galleries and art consultant agencies while developing my own art practice. I have been experimenting with drawing and painting my entire life and am currently exploring how to visually manifest the societal pathology of modern and contemporary South Asia, focusing on how the remnants of colonialism and the birth of neocolonialism have shaped Indian border conflicts. I also paint pictures of my friends’ cats when it all gets a bit much.

In my free time, I enjoy doing yoga, going on bike rides, crying over Italian neorealist films, creating obscurely specific Spotify playlists and experimenting with recipes. I am also in the process of writing a fantasy novel to escape the horrors of PPL.

EMMANUEL CHOI (he/him)

Hello! I’m Manny (he/him), a 2nd year JD student and a proud corgi guncle with a Bachelor of Music in Film Scoring and Contemporary Writing & Production from the Berklee College of Music. I worked in Los Angeles in the film music industry before finding myself at MLS. My interests span across trying new restaurants, live in concerts, home goods shopping and more!

I am excited to be a FAME basso because it’s an amazing opportunity to be connected with other like-minded people whilst also delving into IP and Entertainment law in the JD. I am super excited to be working with FAME this year to bring more fun and engaging initiatives to our students!

AMY GALLICHIO (she/her)

Hola! My name is Amy. I’m a first year JD student and this is a little bit about me :)

I completed my undergraduate studies in Physiology,
Intent on pursuing a career in medicine, as a GP.
*Spoiler alert* that didn’t quite work out,
Law caught my eye, without a doubt.

In my previous life as a ‘med-student wannabe’,
I studied Spanish, Critical Thinking and Astronomy.
I was also involved in research multidisciplinary,
but creative satisfaction always eluded me.

A self-proclaimed poet, bookworm and lover of fashion,
For music, film and TV I have such passion.
Why I ever entertained abandoning creativity
for the likes of medicine, remains a mystery!

Once I came to this critical realisation,
I thought: can I make up for lost time during my legal education?

Enter: FAME.
Amy: Never to be the same.

I was lucky enough to meet this wonderful bunch
during a writing workshop in week three, held just after lunch.
Since that day, I was inspired to contribute,
To help make the law-school experience one to boot.

I am thrilled to be a FAME ambassador for 2022,
to see what the year holds and to support you!
